The map below shows a small example of the open-source data collected as part of the 5-year Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) investigation on the Severn Vale area, which is an understudied area compared to surrounding areas. The data includes a variety of environmental data within and neighbouring the study area, which has been attained through open-source datasets and collected by internship students over the last 3 years. Through collecting open-source data specifically for the Severn Vale, the University of Gloucestershire has built up a GIS database which is available for download below. This database will continue to be updated throughout the year.
Data includes the following:
- Woodland
- Land use/cover
- Protected areas (e.g. SSSI/AONB)
- Flood Zone
- Habitat maps
Other data retained by the CPRE project includes flooding modelling, hedgerow data and urban data on the Severn Vale area.
Click the button below to download a zipped file of the up-to-date version of the Severn Vale CPRE data. All data is subject to the Open Government License (OGL) and is freely available to download. The data provided is clipped to a 5km buffer of the Severn Vale area in Gloucestershire. The project is free to download and is strictly for non-profit uses only.
